Lexcel Assessment Success for Ellis Jones

Lexcel is a legal practice quality mark for client care, compliance, and practice management. It sets the standard for an array of areas such as client care, risk assessments, firm’s structure, and strategy as well as financial and people management.

Our full re-assessment (FRA) took place remotely across all of our offices from 30th January to the 3rd February 2023. We are proud to announce that the Assessor “strongly recommended that the Firm continues to be accredited with Lexcel Certification”.

We received excellent feedback across the Firm in different areas such as compliance, human resources, and firm-wide initiatives. Chris Gates, Samantha Church, Grace Tyror, Shannon Fitzell and those who were interviewed were also mentioned in recognition of “their full attention to the Assessor’s needs before and during the assessment period” which was greatly appreciated.

We have an array of groups that staff can get involved with across the Firm and it was recognised that “encouragement is given to all staff members to participate in Firm-wide initiatives, and groups of staff have been established for progressing the Firm’s involvement in areas such as Electronic Data Interchange, Wellbeing, Environmental Social and Governance, Training Contracts, Solicitors Qualifying Exams, Mentoring, and a Social Group is very active in arranging activities for all LLP staff members and their families. The act of establishing these groups shows Management’s commitment to inclusivity.”

Our HR department were also recognised –

“The firm’s management of human resources is ground-breaking and was commented upon by many of those people who were interviewed for this FRA.”

The Assessor highlighted that the good practices at Ellis Jones had been recorded many times in previous assessments and they are evidently continuing to exist and develop.

Nigel Smith - Managing Director

“The assessor’s comments really are a vindication of the many initiatives and projects which we have introduced. We know their value internally, but it is great to have them recognized and applauded by an independent assessor.”

– Nigel Smith, Managing Director.

At the heart of everything we do is to ‘Put People First’, this relates to both our clients and our colleagues, and this feedback is a great reflection of that. We describe our culture as professional with personality, entrepreneurial, and well connected. We strive to live by our core values: building relationships, taking responsibility, mutual trust and support, and creating a positive environment.

We have also been shortlisted for the LexisNexis Award for Wellbeing category, the winners are due to be announced on Thursday 23rd March – click here to read our article on the event and our shortlisting success.
