Financial Disputes
When two people enter into a Civil Partnership they acquire financial claims against each other.
Part of the process of Civil Partnership Dissolution (similar to Divorce) involves resolving those financial claims and ensuring that any outstanding claims are dismissed. The only way in which this can be achieved is by a Court Order within dissolution proceedings which will address the division of property, pensions, income and other assets.
The law and principles applied by the Courts in relation to resolving financial claims arising between heterosexual couples on divorce applies equally to financial claims between same sex couples on dissolution.
Our family team has a wealth of experience in dealing with the financial aspects of separation and we regularly represent clients in financial proceedings arising from Civil Partnership Dissolution.
