A Vacation Scheme at Ellis Jones
EJ Support the Lawyers of Tomorrow.
On Monday 3rd July we gave a warm welcome to our four new Legal Placements students, Alex Chance, Calum MacAskill, Jacob Hanney and Tom Eyles, who will join us for the next year, each assigned to a different legal department.
They are all two years into their Law Degree at Bournemouth University with huge ambitions to qualify as Lawyers and we are proud to support them throughout this stage of their early legal careers.
We were also delighted to host six individuals for a vacation scheme over a two-week period starting 10th July. Each student rotated between two different legal departments in the firm across, Dispute Resolution, Banking & Finance Litigation, Family, Wills, Trusts & Probate, Business Services and Criminal & Regulatory.
The vacation scheme students spent two weeks shadowing solicitors and lawyers in the firm, attending client meetings and court hearings and discussions, and being tasked with various research assignments.
Alongside work within their legal departments all students were given the opportunity to attend multiple workshops, these included:
- SQE Lunch and Learn
- Q&A Session held with Solicitor, Partner & District Judge, Ian Butterworth
- CV building workshop
- Criminal Law workshop
- Marketing workshop
- HR Forum
The 2023 Vacation Scheme was a huge success for all involved and we went on to receive some fantastic feedback, see some of their comments below.
