Ellis Jones Ladies Day 2023
On Thursday 22nd June, our female staff members and their guests enjoyed our seventh Annual Royal Ascot Ladies Day Lunch in the glorious sunshine at the Lake Yard Club in Poole to raise funds for The BOWRA Foundation.
The BOWRA Foundation provides lifechanging support for military veterans and people from all walks of life with neurological conditions through practical help and physical challenges. This incredible charity was founded by Lieutenant Colonel Mark Bowra MBE RM in 2019 after he suffered a severe stroke in 2014 when he was at the pinnacle of his career in the Royal Marines and the special forces.
During a delicious three course lunch, guests were invited to place bets on the races through a tote-betting system with half of all the bets per race being donated to the charity. During the day the Firm held a raffle with prizes including a Chewton Glen voucher, SBS port and wine, a coffee machine and many more.
Our Partner Lauren Day, who is a trustee of the BOWRA Foundation, said:
“It was a fabulous event with plenty of fun and great conversations. We were honoured to support the charity, which makes a such a difference to people’s lives. Our thanks go to everyone who came along.”
We are proud to announce that we were able to raise over £1,500 for the charity which is a great achievement. We cannot thank our guests enough for their generosity to help us to raise such an impressive amount for such a worthy cause.
Commodore Jim Patrick CBE, who is Chair of the BOWRA Foundation, said:
“It was a marvellous event. Our greatest thanks go to Ellis Jones and everyone who attended for their wonderful support and generosity. This is a huge amount for our charity and will go directly to support our beneficiaries in their unrelenting pursuit of recovery.”
As a firm we are proud that our workforce is 75% female, 70% of our Senior Associates are female, and we are working to further address gender imbalance in senior roles within Senior Management Teams, including our Partners (just over a quarter female) and central management (one third female).
