How We Support Local
At Ellis Jones we value the importance of giving back to the local community. We actively support local charities, events, and volunteer organisations via sponsorships, donations, volunteering and participation in community events.

Our Partnerships
We offer legal support to charitable organisations and their staff, ensuring they have the resources they need in case they require legal help. We are especially proud of our work with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Swanage Railway to help preserve these cherished institutions for future generations. In return for our legal services, we get to experience a select number of events to invite our staff and guests along to, including concerts by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and a train carriage experience with Swanage Railway. Events like these allow our staff to get out into the community and enjoy where they live.
Our Sponsorships
We take great pride in sponsoring businesses and sports clubs local to our different office locations to keep the community social groups thriving, especially in more isolated rural areas.
Some of the organisations and events that we sponsor include:
- Wimborne Cricket Club
- West Hants Club
- Parkstone Yacht Club
- Swanage Cricket Club
- Ringwood Carnival
- Army Cadets
- Dorset Business Angels
- Dorset Sporting Club Luncheon
- Ringwood Business Awards
- Wimborne Business Awards
- Dorchester Business Awards
- Swanage Business Awards
- Evolve Business Leaders Lunch
Our Fundraising
Lots of our fundraising ideas come directly from our passionate staff members, and we all get stuck in with various events, bake sales and competitions to raise money for charity. Our Royal Ascot Day event has previously raised over £1,000 for The BOWRA Foundation.
Some of the charities we have recently supported include:
Our Education Initiatives
We support schools and universities in providing sponsorship, attending careers fairs and providing speakers for school events, mock interviews for sixth form students, ‘meet the firm’ events and we hold an annual Negotiation Competition with a vacation scheme with our firm as the prize.
Our links with Bournemouth University have enabled us to host many legal placement students. These students spend over a year with us in the middle of their degrees. Some of these students have even progressed to permanent roles and training contracts.
We annually sponsor the Soroptimist International’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) Challenge. The STEAM Challenge was established to encourage and inspire girls to become involved in typically male-dominated subjects. As a firm proud of its majority female team, we recognise the continuing importance of advocating for the role of women in the workforce.
Our people are passionate about developing local talent. In doing so we support those in education, expand on our relationship with Bournemouth University and deepen our involvement in the local community.
Our Legal Advice Clinics
Our Senior Associate Chartered Legal Executive, Diane Vincent, has built up relationships with various care home organisations such as Care UK and Colten Care and for the last few years has been hosting Will & Lasting Powers of Attorney clinics. These clinics allow residents, their family and friends, staff members and the local community to book an appointment with Diane and benefit from her wealth of experience and straightforward advice on Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Our Senior Associate Solicitor & Head of Court of Protection, Magdalena Lipinska has built a relationship with Barchester Healthcare, hosting clinics to give residents and their family, friends, staff and the local community expert legal advice on Financial Planning, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection, Trusts and Tax Planning.
These are some of the ways we give back to the local communities surrounding our offices and we hope to continue to nurture our existing partnerships and sponsorships.
