- Acting for the Trustees of a Bare Trust in relation to a Capital Gains Tax enquiry by HMRC which centered around the distinction between legal and beneficial ownership
- Advising a number of clients regarding the establishment of second property trusts to hold holiday homes
- Advising client on claim to main residence relief and let property exemption from Capital Gains Tax on disposal of former residence
- Advising separated couple on the remaining availability of spouse exemption from Inheritance Tax for Will planning
- Advised clients to transfer a proportion of Ethoca shares into family trust, IHT planning on personal element to include establishing AIM portfolio in conjunction with Tilney for £1m and charitable trust for £300k to include registration with charity commission
- Working with accountants to ensure that Pre-Owned Assets Tax (POAT) on a property was paid to avoid the revival of Gift with Reservation of Benefit (GROB), coordinating the Capital Gains Tax (CGT) aspects, advising on the IHT position as well as on apportionment of sale proceeds of the overall site
- Working in conjunction with England & Co accountants, establishing family trust with 5 acres of land on outskirts of Ringwood
- Originally identifying misunderstanding by trustees of nature of trust, dealing with submission of backdated trust tax returns as well as 10 year and exit charges and holdover relief claims between trustees and beneficiaries on vesting of property due to age contingency met.
