Road Traffic Offences Prices
Our road traffic team have an extensive experience in advising upon all aspects of motoring offences.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) launched new Transparency Rules in December 2018 with the aim to ensure that people have accurate and relevant information about a solicitor or firm when they are considering purchasing legal services to assist consumers and businesses to make informed choices. More information about the Transparency Rules can be found on the SRA website.
We have set out further guidance below on the fees likely to be incurred in relation to certain motoring offences where you have entered a guilty plea.
Our Fees for drink driving, drug driving and speeding offences where you have made a guilty Plea
Fixed Fee: £1,000 – £1,200 (excluding VAT*)
*Please note we will charge VAT on top of our costs for the work we carry out for you. VAT is currently charged at 20%
The above fixed fee includes:
- 2 hours attendance/preparation:
- considering evidence
- taking your instructions
- providing advice on likely sentence
- Attendance and representation at a single hearing at the Magistrates Court (the fixed fee may vary depending on the location of the court)
The fee does not include:
- Instruction of any expert witness
- Taking statements from any witnesses
- Advice and assistance in relation to a special reason hearing or an exceptional hardship hearing
- Advice or assistance in relation to any appeal
Key Stages and Services provided
The key stages of your matter are based on the presumption that you have entered a guilty plea and have a date for your hearing.
- Meet with your solicitor to provide instructions on what happened.
- We will consider initial disclosure, and any other evidence and provide advice.
- Arranging to take any witness statements if necessary – this will have an additional cost, and will be charged at £260.00 – £300.00 plus VAT per hour*
- We will explain the court procedure to you, so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the court.
- We will conduct any further preparatory work, obtain further instructions from you if necessary and answer any follow up queries you have.
- We cannot provide a timescale of when your hearing will take place, as this depends on the court listing for that day.
- We will attend court on the day and meet with you before going before the court. We anticipate being at court for half a day.
- We will discuss the outcome with you. If advice is required on appeal, this will carry an additional cost.

Disbursements
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as a barrister or expert. We handle the payment to the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process. Some examples of disbursements are as follows: –
- Barrister’s fees vary according to their level of experience. Barrister’s fees are normally between £750 to £2,000 plus VAT* per day.
- Experts fee – £200 – £600 plus VAT*
- Psychiatrist’s fee £1250 – £1,500 plus VAT*

Fees in Other Cases
We have the expertise to represent you in relation to not guilty pleas and other types of contested cases in relation to the full range of criminal offences. Each case is different. Anti-Money Laundering
To comply with anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing requirements, we are required to ask you for proof of your identity and will conduct searches or enquiries for this purpose. Alongside this we may require details on source of funds.
To make this process easier for you we will use our third-party digital ID checking service provided by InfoTrack. We will charge you for undertaking these identification and verification checks as a cost. We do not make a profit on these checks. The cost of the check is £9.17 plus VAT per individual being checked and £4 plus VAT for Verification of funds if required.
