If your employer has provided you with a Settlement Agreement, do not worry.

Settlement Agreements can be quite daunting as they are lengthy documents. Before an employment Settlement Agreement is legally binding, you must first obtain independent legal advice.

We are happy to offer an advice and sign-off service whereby we are willing to cap our fees at the cost contribution provided by your employer.

What happens during a Settlement Agreement appointment?

Appointments are usually arranged over the telephone or via Zoom; however, a face-to-face meeting can be arranged if necessary. We are able to assist you no matter where you are based. Appointments normally last between 30 minutes to 1 hour.

During the appointment, we will explain the terms and effects of the agreement to you. We will discuss the potential claims that you may be settling and advise you on any changes to the wording to ensure you are protected.

If you are happy with the terms at the end of the meeting, we will discuss with you how to sign the agreement and will return the signed Settlement Agreement to the employer for you. To streamline the process, we often use DocuSign so that you can electronically sign the Settlement Agreement quickly and easily.

We will then raise our invoice in respect of the agreed contribution to your legal fees (if this applies) and will send this to your employer for payment.

Here to help

Our specialist teams can provide full service legal advice and assistance, providing practical and cost-effective solutions.

Will I have to pay the Settlement Agreement solicitor fees?

For advice and sign off appointments, we are happy to cap our fees at the employer costs contribution. This means that you will not need to pay us anything.

If you would like us to negotiate on the financial terms of the agreement, we will try to build this time into the employer contribution. If this is not possible, we will agree in advance with you either a no win, no fee or a fixed fee to negotiate.
