Lasting Power of Attorney Guidance
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which
gives a person that you trust, called an Attorney, the right to make
decisions for you if you are unable to make them yourself through mental incapacity, possibly as
a result of a stroke, a car accident or as a result of long term mental
illness such as Dementia or Alzheimers. Our experienced solicitors can provide you with expert Lasting Power of Attorney guidance.
There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPAs) – Property & Financial Affairs and Health & Welfare. For further details please click this link.
Why make a Lasting Power of Attorney?
You might want to give someone temporary access to your finances whilst you
have capacity, for example if you are away for an extended period of
time on business and need someone to make certain limited decisions on
your behalf during your absence. Alternatively, you may need to appoint
an Attorney to act for you on a more permanent basis now or in the
future if you were to become unable to manage your affairs through
physical infirmity or as a result of mental incapacity.
Whatever your reason for creating a Lasting Power of Attorney, one of our
Wills, Trusts and Probate lawyers will be able to offer you Lasting Powers of Attorney guidance to help you to determine which type is appropriate for you.
